FAQs

What type of dance do you have to do to be in DPhi?

DPhi Members have a wide variety of dance backgrounds. We welcome dancers from any specialty and any level of experience from a wide variety of backgrounds, teams, groups, companies, crews, etc. If you can name it, we probably have a member that does it!

What if I don't dance, but I really want to be a part of DPhi?

Although DPhi Members must be actively involved in the field of dance, or formerly active in dance, we do have an auxiliary affiliation of non-dancers also known as Pumas (known in the world of other Greek-lettered organizations as Hearts).

I'm not in college, can I still be in DPhi?

DPhi is a non-collegiate organization. Therefore, you do not have to be in college to join our organization. However, you must be 18 or older to join (we do accept members at 17 with a signed parent consent form). Please visit our Chapters page to find a local citywide Chapter.

Can I join DPhi and still join another fraternity/sorority later?

Yes! Approximately 50% of the members of DPhi are in other fraternal organizations! With membership in over 30 other fraternal organizations, members or DPhi are in other Greek-lettered organizations, band fraternities, and sororities, Order of the Eastern Star and Freemasons, honor societies, and more! Our only restriction is against joining other co-ed dance fraternities.

What if I am a member of an NPHC organization?

Can I still join DPhi?

Yes! In fact, we have members of all of the NPHC Organizations (except for Omega Psi Phi). We currently have 9 members of Alpha Phi Alpha, 15 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, 6 members of Kappa Alpha Psi, 11 members of Delta Sigma Theta, 15 members of Phi Beta Sigma, 8 members of Zeta Phi Beta, 8 members of Sigma Gamma Rho, and 4 members of Iota Phi Theta.

I don't live near a local Chapter, how can I join DPhi?

If you are interested in chartering a local Chapter in your area, you must contact our National Vice-President of Internal Affairs to formally express interest in forming a new Colony.
